Jim’s travel problems is why I always travel the day before the convention begins and leave the day after the convention ends. I feel your pain, Jim. I know not everyone can do those extra days on their trips.

One more quick comment: that new logo to me is a sticker pealing back to reveal that DC Comics is changing it’s name to Charlton Comics (which used the big single C as a logo). I do not see a D at all in that new logo. That new logo says to me that Warner Brothers is getting rid of DC Comics and has sold it to Charlton.

Can’t wait to find out more about Earth 2 and Worlds’ Finest Comics. If you have anything to dish out on this, love to hear it. Enjoying Demon Knights, Frankenstein: Agent of Shade, All-Star Western, all the Justice Leagues, Aquaman, Action, Superman, Stormwatch, Batman … can’t afford more. Will have make room in the budget somehow for the coming of the second wave.

Jim, don’t feel so bad. When I heard you say “Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.” I thought you were using the right title. I had to go back and listen to it again to realize the mistake. “S.H.A.D.E.” just does not have the same ring as “S.H.I.E.L.D.”

Regarding the cancellations: my understanding is that every book was guaranteed to have six issues when DCNU was announced. I think that, behind the scenes, a decision was made to hold off on the continue/cancel decision until the issue 5 orders came in so DC could see if any books had found following or had tanked after the issue 1 spike. I expect any book that makes it past issue 8 may be re-evaluated for cancellation at issue 12 (two full trades worth of stories, and more lead time to come to a conclusion). I find issue 8 an odd point for cancellation since that is only one and a half trades worth of stories. I think the reason for six cancellations was that is how many replacement series DC had ready to go at the time of the announcement. And some series seam to be coming back simply to maintain copyright on the series title (has to be published X times every 10 years, hence why Men of War is being replaced by G.I. Combat).

I was a fan of the original Resurrection Man series. This DCNU series is better than expected. I am very glad that DnA are on the book again. Mitch can be an interesting character in the DCU, you just need to be careful to not make him a deus ex machina by giving him too much power. If DC decides to end this series due to low sales, I hope they give DnA a chance to come to a satisfying conclusion to the story. This book is right behind the Legion books in my must-read-first pile, so that makes it a top-5 book of the month for me every month.

Regarding “Hal Jordan as Parallax” and Sinestro, in EMERALD TWILIGHT, Sinestro said that one thing about being a Green Lantern is that you get a lot of power and responsibility, but you eventually ask yourself, “What do *I* get out of all this?”

Hal Jordan and almost every superhero probably asks themselves that at some point. What is the great reward for being a superhero? Is being a superhero its own reward? Can you force yourself to believe that, even if you really don’t?

In EMERALD NIGHT, Parallax-Hal asked Ganthet, “After everything I’d done for you, was I really asking for so much?”
Ganthet blah-blahed about the Guardians being an unbending lot.

I’m wondering if GREEN LANTERN #3 will cover what Korugar is like, and what the planet thinks of Sinestro. Do they think, “Yes, he saved us from various external threats, but we hate him anyway”? And anything like “It’s Sinestro’s fault this threat came here in the first place” can be very similar to “It’s Green Lantern’s fault this threat came to Coast City in the first place!”
